Rumour: Google Assistant May Soon Be Made Available To Nexus 5X/6P & Nexus player

If a claim raised by tech journalist Stephen Hall is to be believed, then Google Assistant is on it's way to the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player. However, this is only a rumor, which just may turn out to be false.

According to Stepehen Hall, there is no timeline as to when Google Assistant would be made available on these devices, with the rumored ETAs ranging up to Android O. Whatever the case may be, there are still many ways using which one can get the Google Assistant on their Android device. This can be achieved either by using Xposed modules such as Android N-ify and Assistant Enabler or through some build.prop tweaks.

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the only smartphones which run Google Assistant officially at the moment. It is also rumored that the LG G6 will be having the Assistant baked into it. Google had announced Nougat 7.1.2's beta builds for the eligible Nexus and Pixel devices last week. There is a possibility that the final build of Android 7.1.2 for the Nexus 5X, 6P and Player may bring the Google Assistant to these devices.
