Xiaomi Mi 6 with Snapdragon 835, dual-cameras goes official

Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest flagship, the Mi 6 at an event in China, putting all rumors to rest. The first thing that comes to mind when you look at the Mi 6 is "wow".

Xiaomi says that the Mi 6 has been "precisely crafted like a watch". The four sided 3D curved glass on the Mi 6 gives it a premium look and sides are made from stainless steel which offers a beautiful high-gloss outline, and makes the handset resistant towards wear and tear. It is also splash resistant and the fingerprint scanner is placed under-glass at the front.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 features 5.15-inch Full HD eye protection display with a maximum brightness of 600nits, which can be reduced to 1 nit that cancels blue-light for night-time viewing. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 10nm processor and is further aided by Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB RAM. It comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options.

For photography, the Mi 6 boasts a dual-camera setup sporting two 12MP sensors at the back - one wide-angle lens and one telephoto lens. It also gets depth of field Potrait mode like the iPhone 7 Plus for blurring background objects. The rear camera features dual-LED flash, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 2x optical lossless zoom and 10x digital zoom. For selfies and video calling there's 8MP front camera.

Connectivity features on-board are 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and GPS. Also the Mi 6 is Xiaomi's first smartphone to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in favor of USB Type-C audio. It packs 3350mAh battery and comes with dual stereo speakers. Software-wise it runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 8.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in Black, Blue and and White hues and is priced at CNY 2499 ($360 | Rs. 23,500) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage model and CNY 2899 ($421 | Rs. 27,000) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model. It will go on sale in home market China starting April 28

There's a MI 6 Ceramic Edition sporting four-sided curved ceramic body and 18K gold-plated camera rims at the rear. The Ceramic Edition comes with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and will carry a price tag of CNY 2999 ($435 | Rs. 28,000). It will also be available starting April 28. There's also a Silver Edition with reflective mirror finish Stainless steel frame, but it will be available later.
