Apple refreshes iMac AIO line with Kaby Lake, faster storage and brighter display


Apple at its WWDC 2017 conference, announced its refreshed iMac All-in-One desktop line up. The design of the new iMacs stays the same, but they get up to three times more powerful graphics, faster processors, Thunderbolt 3, faster storage options and brighter Retina displays

The new iMac comes in 21.5-inch and 27-inch screen model and offers the best Mac display ever, now 43 percent brighter at 500 nits and with support for 1 billion colors, delivering an even more vivid and true-to-life viewing experience. Each model has faster Kaby Lake processors up to 4.2 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz and supports up to twice the memory as the previous generation. 

The 21.5-inch iMac now supports up to 32GB RAM, Intel Iris Pls 640 graphics for the base model, or AMD Radeon Pro 555 or Pro 560 graphics for the high-end model. The high end model with 4K retina display will support Fusion Drive that's 50 percent faster than other SSDs.

The new 27-inch iMac includes up to 64GB RAM, up to 2TB SSD, a Fusion Drive, and each model will support 10-bit HEVC/H.265 video decoding. They will sport Retina 5K display and will be available with the option of Radeon 570, 575 and 580 graphics, and house 2 x Thunderbolt 3 ports.

The 27-inch iMac will 5K display will be available with the option of Radeon 570, 575 and 580 graphics, and house 2 x Thunderbolt 3 ports.

  • 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K Display, 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB Radeon Pro 560 graphics, 8GB 2400MHz RAM and 1TB Fusion drive – $1,499 (Rs. 96,500) 
  • 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K Display, 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB Radeon Pro 570 graphics, 8GB 2400MHz RAM and 1TB Fusion drive – $1,799 (Rs. 1,15,800) 
  • 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K Display, 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB Radeon Pro 575 graphics, 8GB 2400MHz RAM and 1TB Fusion drive – $1,999 (Rs. 1,28,700) 
  • 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K Display, 3.8GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB Radeon Pro 580 graphics, 8GB 2400MHz RAM and 2TB Fusion drive – $2,299 (Rs. 1,48,000)
The updated iMac line will be available order online now, and will be available through Apple Stores starting June 7.
