Logitech's Powerplay mousepad wirelessly charges mouse while in use

 

Logitech is bringing wireless charging technology system to gaming mouse. The popular peripheral maker has announced two new flagship wireless gaming mouse, the G903 and G703 Lightspeed, that supports the company's new wireless charging technology G Powerplay. 

The company says G Powerplay is the world's first wireless charging system for gaming mouse, and is a departure from existing wireless charging standards, which require the charging device to sit idle in one specific area to charge. Powerplay is designed to provide continuous charging while both playing game and at rest, eliminating the need to dock or park mouse to recharge. 

It does so, by using an application of electromagnetic resonance that create an energy field above Powerplay’s 275 x 320mm surface to deliver wireless power without interference with its tracking and data transmission. The energy field is captured and transformed into charging current by the Powercore module, which attaches magnetically to compatible wireless gaming mice, including the Logitech G903 and G703.

Speaking of Logitech G903 and G703, both are equipped with PMW3366 optical sensor, that is widely regarded by esports professionals and gaming enthusiasts. It has a DPI range of 200-12,000 boasting incredible tracking accuracy and responsiveness, even at sppeds over 400 IPS.

Other features include Advanced Mechanical Button Tensioning or a crisp button feel, response, and consistency; button durability up to 50 million click switches; and configurable button layout and ambidextrous design that allows for left- or right-handed use and works with nearly any mouse grip style, including palm, claw and fingertip grips.

The Powerplay Wireless Charging system is expected to be available in August 2017, and has been priced at $99.99. The Logitech G903 & G703 Lightspeed wireless gaming mice are priced at $149.99 and $99.99 respectively, and will be available in June 2017.
