Topwise to launch its smartphone brand Comio in India


Micromax ODM (original device maker) Topwise, a company based in China is all set to enter the Indian smartphone market with its own range of smartphone under the brand 'Comio'.

It has scheduled an event set for August 18, to debut Comio devices. The company has also sent out invites for the same, and it reads 'You Will Feel The Power'.

As per reports Comio will initially introduce four smartphones priced between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 12,000 and will start selling the them mid-August. It will take an offline-only route in the country, where the action is now heating up with brands like Motorola and Xiaomi online only brands, going offline. In addition, it will also be competing with domestic brands like Micromax, Lava, Intex, Karbonn; the top player Samsung; and China brand Oppo, vivo and Gionee.

The company plans to invest 500 crore (Rs. 250 crore marketing + Rs. 150 crore R&D and manufacturing +100 crore for distribution) and aims to achieve a sales target of one lakh units a couple of years after launch, and capture a market share of five percent in the next three years. The company also plans to have its own manufacturing facilities in the next 12 months.
