Xiaomi Mi 5X with Snapdragon 625, dual-cameras goes official


Xiaomi has officially announced its latest budget smartphone the Mi 5X at an event in home market in China. The phone sports a premium 7.3mm thick metal unibody design with anti-finger coating, dual-camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It still runs Android Nougat based MIUI 8, but will be update to MIUI 9.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X features 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card.


The dual-camera boasts two 12MP sensors, same as the Mi 6 flagship —: one with a f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens and other with a f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens offering portrait mode and background blur assisted by dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. For selfies it gets 5MP front shooter.

Connectivity options on-board are 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C. A 3080mAh battery runs the show.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at CNY 1499 ($222 | Rs. 14,000), and will go on sale in China starting August 1 in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors.
