Android One debuts in the U.S with Moto X4


The rumors are official. Google and Motorola has launched the Moto X4 Android One edition in in the U.S exclusively for Project Fi. This is the first Android One phone to launch in the U.S and first non-Google device to support Project Fi. The launch comes soon after Xiaomi released its first Android One device the Mi A1 in India. The Moto X4 will also make its way to India on October 3.

The Moto X4 Android One Edition is basically the regular Moto X4, but ships with stock Android Nougat without Moto enhancements, and Motorola promises to release Android Oreo update before the end of the year, along with timely security updates. It also will be among the first to get Android P upgrade as well. The device is also optimised for Google Assistant and comes pre-loaded with Google Duo and unlimited high-quality photo storage with Google Photos.

As for the specs, nothing has changed, the MotoX4 Android One Edition features 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display, and is powered by 2.0GHz octa-core Snapdragon 630 processor accompanied by Adreno 508 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It has dual 12MP+8MP dual-camera at the back and 16MP front camera with low light photography, and is fueled by 3000mAh battery. Other specs include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, IP68 water and dust resistance and TurboCharging.

The Moto X4 Android One Edition has been priced at $399 (Rs. 26,000) in the U.S is now up for pre-order in Super Black and Sterling Blue color. There's also a trade-in program which lets Nexus device users to exchange the device for up to $165. Those who opt for the exchange by October 5 will get an extra $50 Fi credit.
