Xiaomi Mi A1 with stock Android and dual-cameras now available in India


The Xiaomi Mi A1 is Xiaomi's first Android One device, and runs stock Android instead of MIUI software. At launch, Xiaomi said that the device will roll out globally to 37 countries starting with India.

Now the Mi A1 is officially up for purchase in India via online and offline channels for Rs. 14,999 in Black and Gold colors. Online, it will be available exclusively on Flipkart and Mi store, while the list of offline stores include Mi Home Store, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, LOT, UniverCell, E-Zone, Crome, Vijay Sales and Mi Preferred Partner Stores.  The launch offers include up to 200GB additional 4G data for Airtel users. 

Xiaomi Mi A1 specifications & features
The Mi A1 is the company's first Android One smartphone, which means it runs stock Android software, and has zero bloatware. However, it comes pre-installed with select Xiaomi apps like Mi Camera, Mi Remote, Mi Store and Mi Service. Another benefit of stock Android is that, the device will get major OS upgrades as well as timely security updates also. 


The Mi A1 runs Android Nougat out of the box, and Xiaomi has promised upgrade to Android Oreo, and the unreleased Android P. It also comes pre-loaded with Google Assistant and unlimited full resolution storage on Google Photos.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi MI 5X features 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display with Gorilla Glass protection, and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, that's expandable via microSD card.

The camera department includes two 12MP shooters at the back: one wide-angle lens and the other telephoto lens. The dual-rear cameras are accompanied by dual-LED flash, and features portrait mode, background blur mode, optical zoom and more. On the front sits a 5MP shooter for snapping selfies and video calling. 

It is fueled by 3080mAh battery, and supports dual-SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, IR Blaster, USB Type-C and GPS for connectivity. It sports a premium metal unibody design, and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 will compete with Moto G5S Plus. Both share almost same specs sheet, but Moto G5S Plus is priced slightly Rs. 1,000 higher. Moreover, both are available for purchase from online and offline stores.
