Xiaomi Mi A1 Is Now Getting The October Security Patch

Being an Android One device, the Mi A1 gets monthly security patches like Nexus and Pixel devices. In case of the Nexus and Pixels, it is Google which handles the updates while in case of Android One smartphones, it is the phone manufacturer which looks after the updates. That's why Android One handsets get the monthly security patch later as compared to Nexus and Pixels.

Last month the Mi A1 got its first security patch update which bumped the security level from August 1 to September 1. Xiaomi is now rolling out a new update for the Mi A1 which comprises of the October security patch and bug fixes.

The update has a version number of N2G47H.7.10.14 and clocks in at 118MB. Like other update rollouts, this one is being rolled out in phases. What this means is that a randomly selected number of users will be getting the update on the first day with the pool of users expanding on each following day until the update has been extended to everyone. You can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > About phone > System updates and checking whether the update is available for your device.
