Casio announces GZE-1 EYE rugged action camera


Casio has announced G'z Eye, a new action camera brand heavily inspired by its iconic shock resistant G-Shock watch brand. The first member of the shock-resistant action camera series is the GZE-1 EYE.

The GZE-1 EYE action camera flaunts a rugged design, and is able to withstand a drop up to 4 meters, waterproof down to 50 meters, dustproof to the IP6X standard, and works in temperature down to -10 degree Celsius.

The action camera has super wide-angle lens that captures a 190.8-degree (still image) and 170.4-degree (movie) field of view, and dramatic Slow Motion for cinematic slo-mo shots. It can record up to 1080p at 30fps and 480p at 120fps and capture 6MP photos.

There's also a dedicated app for smartphone called G'z EYE. The app allows users to connect the camera to a smartphone (via Bluetooth) for transferring images and movies. It also feature a remote capture mode that allows users to trigger the camera without looking at the phone.

The Casio GZE-1 is priced at 46,000 yen ($413 | Rs. 27,000 approx.) in Japan. Availability details is not known.
