OxygenOS 4.5.14 for OnePlus 5 brings KRACK WPA2 vulnerability fix

OnePlus has always been good at handling software updates to its latest devices. That said, OnePlus is rolling out OxygenOS 4.5.14 update for the OnePlus 5 which brings fixes and optimizations to improve the performance of the device.

The update adds support for Airtel VoLTE (Voice over LTE) in India, which means OnePlus 5 users can now enjoy HD voice calling over data. It fixes KRACK security vulnerability in WPA2 WiFi protocol. The update also includes Band 66 support for Freedom customers in Canada, optimized battery usage and GPS accuracy, as well as general bug fixes.

For the uninitiated, KRACK vulnerability in WiFi WPA2, makes it possible for attackers to eavesdrop on your web activities when you connect to WiFi, which may lead to a breach to one's privacy and loss of sensitive information such as credit card numbers, passwords, chat messages, emails, photos, and so on. You can read more about KRACK over here (https://www.krackattacks.com/).

Here are the changes for this build:
  • Supported Airtel VoLTE in India
  • Supported Band 66 of Freedom in Canada
  • Fixed Wi-Fi WPA2 security issue
  • Optimized battery usage in some cases
  • Optimized GPS accuracy
  • General bug fixes
The update weighs in at 61MB, and is rolling out over-the air in phases, which means only a small percentage of OnePlus 5 will receive the update today, with a broader roll out taking place in the coming days.
