Razer Phone goes official with 120Hz display, Snapdragon 835, 8GB RAM


As expected, Razer has set foot into the smartphone market, and is launching its first smartphone Razer Phone designed for the gamers. It has most of the features you did expect from a top end flagship phone in 2017, but it gets some special features. 

The Razer Phone features 5.72-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Ultramotion display with 120Hz refresh rate and Wide Color Gamut.  This means the phone's screen can display 120 frames every second and produce accurate colors and smooth animation. The G-Sync-like UltraMotion technology on the other hand synchronizes the GPU and display to remove the image tearing ot lag, while driving efficient power usage.

Speaking of the performance, the Razer Phone is equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, which is expandable via microSD card. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and Razer promises Android Oreo by Spring 2018. 

It packs 4000mAh battery, that promises up to 12.5 hours of run time while watching movies, up to 63 hours of music playback, or up to seven hours of run time while playing Heartstone. There's also support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology which lets you go from 0 to 85 percent charge in one hour.

For photography, there's dual 12MP camera consisting of a wide angle lens (f/1.75 aperture), and the other with telephoto lens (f/2.6 aperture) for 2x zoom. For selfie you get an 8MP front shooter.



In terms of connectivity the phone supports 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB Type-C and NFC. It also gets stereo speaker, and each speaker has its own dedicated amplifier, and the phone support Dolby Atmos audio certified by THX. A fingerprint scanner, that's located at the back, completes the specs list.

All this is packed into a body that measures 8mm and weighs 197g. Unfortunately, there's no 3.5mm audio jack.

Razer has also partnered with Tencent, Square Enix and many others to bring top games optimized for the 120fps screen, to take full advantage of the Razer Phone's special features. Some of the gaming titles include Arena of Valor, Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition, Gear Club, Shadowgun Legends, Tekken and more.

It also announced Theme Store, that allows users to customize their phone, change wallpapers, icon packs and colors throughout the phone. It also includes custom ringtones by Razer DJs and custom wallpapers inspired by the world’s top gaming titles, such as “Shadowgun Legends”.

Coming to the pricing, the Razer Phone is priced at $699.99 Rs. 45,000) and will go on sale in North America and Europe starting November 17. Razer will also sell a special edition of Razer Phone with Razer's iconic green triple-headed snake logo in limited quantityu of 1337 units.
