Xiaomi India has its best quarter ever, shipped record 9.2 million smartphones in Q3 2017

In addition, it also opened Mi Home stores across major Indian cities to increase offline presence.

As a result the company has been rapidly rising to the top in the Indian smartphone market this year. Last month Xiaomi announced that it sold over four million smartphones during India's festive sale (Sep 20-Oct 19).

Having said that, Xiaomi India today has reached another milestone. The company has announced that it has shipped over whooping 9.2 million smartphone in the country in Q3 2017 for the first time. For comparison, the company shipped 100,000 smartphone in Q3 2014, and crossed 1 million mark in Q3 2015 and 3 million in Q3 2016. But this quarter it has shattered all previous records. The same is the case in the global market as well. Globally Xiaomi's shipments have crossed over 70 million units in the first ten months of this year, surpassing the target it had set. As per IDC, Xiaomi holds the fifth spot in the global market share as of Q3 2017. During the period, it sold 27.6 million smartphones, which is up by 102.6 percent, when compared to Q3 2016.

Recently in a bid to expand its global presence, Xiaomi set foot into Europe starting with Spain.
