Xiaomi outs new Mi 6 variant with 4GB RAM in China

Xiaomi has introduced a new variant of the Mi 6 featuring 4GB RAM. To recap, when the Mi 6 was initially launched, it was offered with 6GB RAM, and the option of 64GB and 128GB storage. But the new 4GB Mi 6 comes with just 64GB storage and lower price tag.

The new 4GB/64GB Mi 6 has been priced at CNY 2299 (Rs. 22,500 | $346), and will be available for purchase in China on November 11. For comparison the 6GB/64GB model costs CNY 2499 (Rs. 23,500).

Apart from the RAM, the new 4GB Mi 6 has the same specs as the 6GB RAM model.  The Mi 6 is splash resistant and features 5.15-inch Full HD, Snapdragon 835 processor, 3350mAh battery, dual-speaker and fingerprint scanner.

For photography, the Mi 6 boasts a dual-camera setup sporting two 12MP sensors at the back - one wide-angle lens and one telephoto lens. It also gets depth of field Portrait mode like the iPhone 7 Plus for blurring background objects. The rear camera features dual-LED flash, 4-axis optical image stabilization, 2x optical lossless zoom and 10x digital zoom. For selfies and video calling there's 8MP front camera.

In terms of connectivity there's 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and GPS. It ditches 3.5mm audio jack in favor of USB Type-C audio, and runs Android Nougat based MIUI 8 based  but is upgradable to MIUI 9.
