NVIDIA Shield is the 'world's first 4K Android TV console'


NVIDIA unveiled its new NVIDIA Shield Android TV console at Game Developer Conference 2015.  It can play 4K video content and is powered by the company's newly launced Tegra X1 processor. 

The console offers gaming and video streaming and comes with a voice-controlled remote. It can play 4K video content and works with NVIDIA GRID, a cloud streaming service service that steams popular PC games to the SHEILD. It will come in two subscriptions - 'Basic' that streams games at 720p and 'Premium' that streams up to 1,080p.

More than 50 Android titles are optimized for SHIELD and will be available to download and purchase that includes AAA title like Crysis 3, Doom 3 : BFG Edition, Borderlands : TPS, Batman : Arkham Origins, Grid 2 and Metro : Last Light Redux.

NVIDIA Sheild is powered by Tegra X1 processor with 256-core Maxwell GPU and 64-bit CPU. It supports 4K video straming at 60Hz via an HDMI 2.0 port. Other features include 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, IR LED, Ethernet, USB 3.0 and micro-USB 2.0.

THE NVIDIA Shield Android TV gaming console will be available starting May at $199 (Rs. 12,000). It will come with optional accessories that include additional controllers, a remote control and a stand.
