Moto E (2nd Gen) gets Android 5.1 Lollipop update


Motorola has started rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the second generation Moto E over-the-air (OTA). The update package is around 250MB and is now rolling out to all the Moto E second gen handset worldwide OTA. At the time of writing the update was being rolled out in the U.S. (build 23.11.15)

The update brings number of bug-fixes, UI-tweaks, support for factory reset protection, better control over notification, device protection, lockscreen, quick settings, ART run-time performance enhancements and stability improvements. You can check out the full change-log at the end of this report.

Users will need a Wi-Fi connection to download the update and make sure the battery in their phone is at least 50% charged.

If you have received notification message for the Android 5.1 Lollipop update select "Yes, I’m in" and after the software is downloaded select "Install now". If you have not received the update, you can manually update by going to settings> About phone> System Updates > Select  "Yes, I’m in" and after software is downloaded select "Install now".
