ZTE Axon Lux and Axon with fingerprint sensor announced


Earlier this month ZTE introduced its new Axon smartphone series in the United States and the first device to launch under Axon brand was Axon Pro. Now the company has launched two new devices under its Axon lineup, the Axon and Axon Lux in its home market China.

The ZTE Axon Lux features 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) CGS TFT LCD with 2.5D curved display technology and Corning Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass protection. Inside there is an 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and Adreno 430 GPU. On-board storage is 128GB, further expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. It runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with MiFavor 3.2 on top. Camerawise, it sports dual-lens camera (13-megapixel + 2-megapixel) rear camera with dual-LED flash. On the front there is an 8-megapixel camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens and 1080p video recording capabilities. On the connectivity front it supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS. It is fueled by 3000mAh battery.

The ZTE Axon features 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage. Rest of specs are similar to ZTE Axon Plus.

The ZTE Axon and Axon Lux have Eyeprint ID, which is a password-free eye-based biometric phone unlocking solution that uses the front camera to capture unique vein patterns in the users eye to unlock the smartphone. They also fingerprint sensors, HiFi Audio Chipset AKM 4961 and sports a leather-like finish at the rear panels. Both the devices comes in Ion Gold and Chromium Silver colors.

The ZTE Axon Lux is priced at CNY 3,888  (US$ 625 | Rs. 40,000) and the Axon is priced at CNY 2,699 Yuan (US$ 435 | Rs. 27,500). They are available for pre-orders from company's online store or and JD.com

ZTE also showcase Axon mini with 5.2-inch super AMOLED display. It comes with force touch screen that lets you perform several gestures just by varying the force of the touch. Rest of the specs were not revealed by ZTE, but it said that the smartphone will launch in the "near future".
