Amazon to launch 'Kindle Oasis' waterproof e-reader this week

Last week, Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos announced that the company will release the next generation top-of-the-line Kindle eReader sometime this week, without revealing its name. Now according to Amazon Japan, the eReader will be called Oasis, and will be successor to Kindle Voyage.

The Amazon Japan product listing also reveals that Kindle Oasis will be waterproof and come with stylus support. The listing has now been taken down. The eReader is also expected to sport a leather cover, with extra battery and support Bluetooth connectivity. It is also rumored to come with a battery case that can be charged using Solar power.

To recall, Kindle Voyage eReader was introduced back in September 2014, and was launched in India in March 2015 at a starting price of 16,499. It features a 6-inch Carta e-paper display with a pixel density of 300ppi. The screen is made of micro-etched glass to give it a more paper like feel and eliminates glare.
