Qualcomm announces Quick Charge 4.0, promises 0 to 50 percent in 15 minutes

Qualcomm has announced Quick Charge 4, its latest fast charging technology which will work alongside the Snapdragon 835 processor.

Qualcomm;s latest fast charging solution is up to 20 percent faster or 30 percent more efficient when compared to Quick Charge 3.0, while charging up to 5° C cooler.

The chipmaker says that with just five minutes of charging, Quick Charge 4.0 can charge your phone's battery to offer 5 hours worth of battery life. More over a 15 minutes charge, will offer battery life of 50 percent.

Unlike Quick Charge 3.0, Quick Charge 4.0 also adds full compliance with the latest USB Type-C standards including USB Power Delivery. The protocols include accurate measurement of voltage, current, and temperature to protect the devices and chargers from damage. It also has new protection against overcharging for safety.

Quick Charge 4.0 will be supported by Snapdragon 835, which will be available in the first half of 2017.
