[Which month is it?] Android One Devices Are Getting The May Security Patch Now

Just like the Nexus and Pixel devices, Android One devices are supposed to get monthly security updates from Google. Android One devices usually get the security updates at the same time as the Nexus and Pixel devices. However as it turns out, the Android One second generation devices are getting the May security patch now.

Google rolls out a new security patch to the eligible devices on the first Monday of every month. Since today is the first Monday of July, Google will shortly be commencing the roll out of the July security update. Thus, although the Android One devices were meant to get the July security patch today, they are instead being updated to the May security patch.

It is also worth noting here that the Android One second generation devices share the same fate as the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, and haven't been updated to Nougat 7.1.2. The update size is 12.6MB. If you own an Android One second generation device, you will be getting a notification about the update shortly.
