OnePlus 6T Won't Have A Headphone Jack, But A Better Battery Life Is Promised

Sorry, headphone jack lovers, I have some disappointing news for you. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the company's next smartphone will ditch the headphone jack. What's the reason, you may ask. To make space for the in-display fingerprint scanner and a larger battery that will be "substantial enough for users to realize."

Pei said that OnePlus isn't dropping the jack to keep up with trends. The OnePlus co-founder added that the company had to make the move eventually and it feels now is the right time. "We're not doing it for the sake of doing it and because everyone else is. We believe now is the right time, as it'll benefit the majority of our users while keeping the downside low."

OnePlus Type-C Bullets

According to Pei, 59% of the OnePlus users already use wireless earbuds, so the majority shouldn't be having a problem. For others, OnePlus will be including a dongle in the box which can be used to connect 3.5mm earphones through the USB-C port. Pei also announced that a new version of Bullets V2 wired headphones with USB-C is in the works and will be released alongside the company's next smartphone, which as we know is the OnePlus 6T.
