OnePlus Took Just 45 Days To Release Android 9 Pie For OnePlus 6

In regards to software, OnePlus has come a long way since it started out in 2014. The company's first smartphone, the OnePlus One, was built in partnership with Cyanogen Inc, and as a result, the One came with CyanogenOS out of the box. However, a couple of months after the launch of the One, there was a fallout between Cyanogen and OnePlus which caused the smartphone maker to abandon ties with the software company. Every OnePlus smartphone after the OnePlus One has been shipped with OxygenOS, OnePlus' in-house fork of Android.

OxygenOS has been praised by users and critics alike for its fast performance and closeness to stock Android with nifty features on top. It's the OxygenOS updates, though, that have disappointed users. The OnePlus 2 was promised an upgrade to Nougat, but that didn't happen. The same was the case with the OnePlus X. OnePlus' failure to deliver on promises has made the company receive flak, but OnePlus has learnt and improved itself. Recently, OnePlus promised Android 9 Pie for the OnePlus 3/3T which were launched with Marshmallow.

Continuing its improvements to software updates, OnePlus has now released the stable Android 9 Pie update for the OnePlus 6. This comes just a month and a half after Google and Essential rolled out Pie to their respective devices. OnePlus has been testing Pie for its current flagship for a while now. The company released beta Android 9 builds alongside Google in July. After Google rolled out stable Pie, OnePlus continued the testing of Android 9 for the OnePlus 6 through its Open Beta program.

Here's the update changelog:
