Under Armor teams with JBL for heart rate-sensing wireless headphones


JBL and Under Armour have teamed up to bring two wireless in-ear headphone - UA Headphones Wireless Heart Rate and UA Headphone Wireless. The most interesting product is the one with Heart rate monitoring.

The heart rate sensor is built right in to the ear piece. The UA Heaphones Wireless Heart Rate offers instant heart rate monitoring directly from the ear with a touch of a button. The headphones then streams the heart rate data collected with a built-in connection to UA Record, Under Armour's health and fitness platform.

The earbuds have a three button mic for taking calls or changing music tracks. They connect to the smartphone using Bluetooth 4.1 and and offers battery life of 8 hours (UA Headphone Heart Rate -5 hours). They are sweat-proof (IPX 5) and feature JBL's Twistlock and Flexsoft tech for comfort and twisty-cable avoidance.

Athletes that purchase the UA Headphones Wireless Heart Rate and UA Headphones Wireless will receive a complimentary 12-month MapMyFitness Premium subscription, valued at $29.99.

The UA Headphones Wireless Heart Rate is priced at $250 and will be available in late spring 2016 while the UA Headphones Wireless will set you back by $180 and is available for pre-order starting January 5, 2016 at JBL.com and UnderArmour.com.
